0183 to N2K Gateway with PC Interface, ISO

The NGX-1 is an intelligent gateway that converts NMEA 0183 data to NMEA 2000 (and vice versa), allowing you to share information between devices from the two standards. This creates the possibility of upgrading some of the vessel’s electronics to NMEA 2000 and keeping the remaining NMEA 0183 devices. This can help spread the cost of transitioning to NMEA 2000, reducing the initial upgrade cost to accommodate a new NMEA 2000 device.

The ISO variant connects easily to NMEA 0183 devices with a dedicated pair of data wires for transmit and receive, allowing the NGX-1 to share data bi-directionally if required. OPTOIsolation is included on the input and groundbreaking ISO-DriveTM technology is on the output to keep your devices safe from hazardous ground loops.

The USB Variant allows for quick and easy connectivity to a PC running software that requires NMEA 0183 data.

Thanks to the device being low power, it is powered directly from the NMEA 2000 network, removing the requirement for an independent power supply.

The Actisense NGX-1 also makes it possible to send and receive NMEA 2000 data safely between a PC and an NMEA 2000 network. This creates the possibility of feature-rich software applications replacing or complementing dedicated hardware such as a Multifunction Display (MFD) or Chart Plotter.

Acting as an NMEA 2000 to PC Gateway allows the device to act as a rule-enforcing firewall between the PC and the network, giving the user full control over what data is passed and blocked. The NGX is capable of transferring every currently available NMEA 2000 PGN from the network to a PC application.

Features:

  • ISO version has OPTO-isolated input and ISO-Drive output for safely interfacing with NMEA 0183 or RS232 / RS422.
  • Advanced configuration using the Actisense Toolkit allows Tx / Rx lists and Tx rates to be set.
  • Supports fast-heading at 10Hz.
  • Up to 230,400 baud rate data transfer rate.
  • Integrated 0.75m ISO cable.
  • Diagnostic LEDs on both input and output.

Engine Management Unit Analog - NMEA2000
Share engine information on the NMEA 2000® bus...

The Actisense EMU-1 is a specialised analogue to NMEA 2000 Gateway which converts data from analogue engine senders into NMEA 2000. The EMU-1 enables NMEA 2000 display devices to monitor the engine on a vessel.

The EMU-1 has a PC based configuration tool that allows the settings inside the EMU-1 to be changed to best suit the engine it is working with, making it a flexible solution for many engine makes and models. Capable of measuring a wide range of engine parameters, the EMU-1 reports how the engine is operating and shares the information across the network.

Designed to simplify the conversion of analogue engine parameters (e.g. Temperature, pressure and RPM) into NMEA 2000 engine PGNs, the EMU-1 simplifies processes and reduces the number of input/output wires required at each engine. Additionally, the EMU-1 also supports the conversion of analogue transmission parameters and battery status to the associated NMEA 2000 PGN's.

The two-part screw terminal connection system allows for an easy pluggable connection to an engine wiring harness.

Multiple engines are supported by the setting of the engine instance using the EMU-1 configuration tool. Currently one EMU-1 per engine is supported. Support for multiple engines on a single EMU-1 is currently planned as a future firmware update.

The customised case ensures that the electronics are sealed while allowing quick access to the electrical connections.

It is recommended that an Actisense NGT-1 NMEA 2000 PC Interface is available for every EMU-1 installation. The NGT-1 can be used to update the Firmware, connect the Configuration Tool and display data on a PC for diagnostic and information purposes, using NMEA Reader. Please visit the NGT-1 page for product details.

Features:
  • 6 gauge inputs
  • 4 alarm inputs
  • 2 tacho inputs
  • Logs total engine time using the tacho inputs
  • 2 auxiliary inputs for additional flexibility
  • Simple single wire gauge connections; common ground referenced
  • Manual measurements not required when configuring
  • Firmware can be updated over NMEA 2000 network
  • Easy customisation for different installations (requires an NGT-1 and PC software)
  • Waterproof electronics and splash-proof connections
  • Pluggable connectors for quick and easy installation
  • Optional DIN rail mounting kit available

Micro 4-Way Instrument Drop

The Actisense 4-way drop makes it easier to reach up to four devices with a single cable.

Typically, when four devices need to be connected to an NMEA 2000 backbone, a T-piece and individual cable is required for each one. This can either mean excessive cabling demands or moving the backbone closer to your devices.

The 4-way drop makes it possible to shorten the length of each cable needed before reaching a T-piece.

A2K-SBN-2 Small Boat 8 Way Self-Contained Boat Network N2K

Installing small NMEA 2000® networks is quicker and easier than it’s ever been with the Self-contained Boat Network (SBN) from Actisense.

The equivalent of eight T-pieces in a single case provides a significant time and space saving with no more connecting multiple T-pieces together. Termination resistors are built in which increases the saving on time and space.

Once the attached 3 metre cable is connected to the boats power supply, an NMEA 2000 network for up to eight devices is ready to use, taking ‘plug & play’ to the next level.

Features:

  • Self-contained NMEA 2000 Network
  • Integrated Termination Resistors
  • 8x NMEA 2000 drops
  • Ruggedized, flame retardant over-moulded housing
  • Metal coupling nuts
  • Integrated EMI Shield
  • Orange, UL Rated, 3M power cable
  • Colour coded wires, stripped and tinned

Benefits:

  • Low cost, quick to install, and provides an easy way to connect multiple NMEA 2000 devices
  • Simple installation, fewer components, more reliable, lower cost
  • Accommodates the vast majority of compact NMEA 2000 networks
  • Suitable for wet and harsh conditions- highly desirable in marine environments
  • Reliable, long lasting connections

Small Boat N2K Network Kit

Installing compact sized NMEA2000® networks is now quicker and easier with the introduction of the Small Boat Network from Actisense. This "backbone in a box" is the equivalent of four T-pieces, two terminators and a power tap, all molded into a single, compact case. This innovative design provides a significant cost, time and space savings compared to traditional NMEA2000® starter kits.

Cables are easily connected/disconnected after mounting thanks to the ambidextrous, molded-in screw locations and the built-in standoff. Once the integral 3 meter power cord is connected to the vessel's power supply, an NMEA2000® network for up to four devices is ready to use, truly taking ‘plug & play’ to the next level. The Small Boat Network can even be expanded, as long as all NMEA2000® installation requirements are properly observed.
